Woven Wearables

I am so excited to introduce my new passion—weaving!

I have always been fascinated with the process of weaving and thanks to a fellow artist at an art show, I was pointed in the right direction to start my exploration into what is needed to weave on a table top loom.

I looked at a lot of videos on various types of looms, their pros and cons, and decided the Ashford rigid heddle loom was the best starting point for me. My loom arrived from New Zealand—had to put it together—and began weaving January of 2022. I have to be honest, there was a bit of trepidation setting my first warp but thanks to a plethora of instructional videos, I began weaving my first piece. It wasn’t pretty but it was a start! I was now in the world of weaving and exploring all types of yarns and patterns—this is entirely different from my silk painting and I am enjoying learning so many different patterns and techniques. I love working with vivid colors, and the multitude of yarns available don’t disappoint!

As I explored more patterns and designs I realized I needed to take the next step in looms. Off to the Ashford website (via Paradise Fibers). I decided on a 24” 8-shaft table loom. I have been enjoying weaving on this loom and most of the items shown here have been created on this loom.

I am pleased to be a resident artist at Studios-on-the-Park in downtown Paso Robes. Please come by to see all my creations and watch me working on my table loom.
