Woven Wearables

I am so excited to introduce my new passion – weaving! I have always been fascinated with the process of weaving and thanks to a fellow artist at an art show, I was pointed in the right direction to start my exploration into what is needed to weave on a table top loom. I looked at a lot of videos on various types of looms, their pros and cons, and decided the Ashford rigid heddle loom was the best starting point for me. I liked the construction of the loom and there were several sizes to choose from. I selected a 32″ loom because I knew I would want to make wider pieces for shawls and jackets.

My loom arrived – had to put it together – and began weaving January of 2022. I have to be honest, there was a bit of trepidation setting my first warp but thanks to a plethora of instructional videos, I began weaving my first piece. It wasn’t pretty but it was a start! I was now in the world of weaving and exploring all types of yarns and patterns – his is entirely different from my silk painting and I am enjoying learning so many different patterns and techniques. I love working with vivid colors, and the multitude of yarns available don’t disappoint!

Right now, I am only making my creations available through my local art shows. Here are a few of my recent creations which I will be introducing at the Paso Robles Art in the Park art show this October 15 & 16, 2022. Follow my website as I add new pieces to the site.

Care guide: hand wash in cool water, lay out on a towel and pat to dry.
